There’s things about the IIHF’s rules I like better than the NHL, such as the 3 point game. What I don’t like, is that they give a goal for and against during the shootout. So the player who scores the game winner, gets credit for an actual goal, and the goalie is on the hook for the goal against. That’s not nice. Yesterday the Oilers and Jets were bagel-bagel through 65 minutes. Edmonton missed on two shootout chances, Jets scored on both of their’s. Since they didn’t go to a third shooter, who would get the winning goal? Connor who scored first, or Laine who scored second? Oilers never scored so wouldn’t that be Connor? Laine scored the clinching goal, thus making shot three irrelevant, so is it him? Let’s live the shootout off the official stats, doesn’t belong. I’m old school, I’m still fine with a game ending in a tie.
